Hi there,
We got some big news! Craft Hot Sauce is shifting its focus to craft wine!
Over the years, we've burned off most of our taste buds, tried all the hot sauces worth trying, and are now moving onto something more sophisticated. Vino 🍷
Our first review, Barefoot Wine's Cabernet Sauvignon, 2019.
Wait! Don't go!
April Fools!
Of course we're not leaving craft hot sauce behind! 🔥 I got capsaicin in my veins and we're only just scratching the surface of what's out there!
Through my exploration of craft hot sauces, I've expanded my palate and gained a greater appreciation and love of different food and cultures. We only hope we can help you in your own exploration of craft hot sauce!
Today I'm proud to gather a group of wonderful people, stories, and hot sauces to start off your April morning.
To kick things off, we're sharing a conversation with Erica of Queen Majesty Hot Sauce about seizing opportunities and following your creative interests. (In Queen Majesty's case, hot sauce and DJing.)
I really enjoyed interviewing Erica, and Queen Majesty makes one of my favorite lines of hot sauce. Upon tasting their hot sauces, you can tell they are made with fresh ingredients, and their crew's personality and passion comes out in the taste. Learn more about their hot sauces and journey here.
Mustafa from Trini Pepper Sauce was another maker gracious enough to reflect and share their story with Craft Hot Sauce.
"As I was growing up I would visit my family in Trinidad and Tobago and enjoy all the delicacies prepared by my grandma. One of which was a pepper sauce unique to my family."
Click here to read the entire story, but long story short, Mustafa got the blessing from his grandma to make this Scotch Bonnet and Trinidad Scorpion hot sauce for the masses.
We just got their sauces stocked up in our shop for you to try. If you love that pungent, fruity flavor of the Scotch Bonnet, these are a must-try!
To round out the fresh and the hot, we also have the fermented, via Poor Devil Pepper Co in the Hudson Valley, New York.
Laura and Jared came on the Craft Hot Sauce Podcast discussing their journey into fermentation. We also talked about how they collaborate with musicians and artists, source their ingredients from local regenerative farms, and take a no-waste approach to their fermented hot sauce business.
You can listen to any of our podcasts by searching "Craft Hot Sauce Podcast" on your favorite podcast player or you can stream them on our website.
Want to try out some of the hot sauces we mentioned in the newsletter?
I think you do!
We have a few highly recommended options listed here and a whole bunch more on the Craft Hot Sauce Shop.
Thanks for reading!
I'm curious though... What's the hardest you've ever fallen for an April Fool's prank? Get your defenses up!
Cheers,
Brian
